Write a Letter to Your Landlord Demanding the Return of Your Security Deposit

Click here for an online computer program that will help you write a letter to your landlord demanding the return of your security deposit.

Use this program, ONLY if you do not receive your security deposit (or an itemized invoice for any amount withheld for damages) 3 weeks after you move out.

A landlord has 3 weeks after you move out to return your security deposit and/or send an itemized invoice for any amount withheld for damages. If you received part of your security deposit and feel that your landlord should have returned more money, DO NOT use this program. INSTEAD, use the Write a Demand Letter program to write your letter.

If you have any problems using this program, contact us at: equalaccess@jud.ca.gov.
