Qualification Criteria for Appointment

The California Supreme Court is seeking lawyers who comply with the qualifications of Rule 8.605, California Rules of Court, to apply to represent indigent defendants sentenced to death. Applicant counsel who meet the qualifications set forth in Rule 8.605, as determined by the Supreme Court, may be appointed for the direct appeal, the related state habeas corpus/executive clemency proceedings, or both the direct appeal and habeas corpus/executive clemency proceedings.
